caching - Is cache folder of Codeigniter 3 safe to save sensitive data?

Question

I am going to save some sensitive data of my website build with Codeigniter 3 in the cache folder (applicationcache) but I don't know is it safe. I tried to access that folder from the browser but it doesn't work. Are there any other methods that can expose cache files saved there?
